Immigration Assessments

An immigration evaluation refers to a mental health assessment provided by a therapist for an immigration legal case. The evaluation provides crucial evidence and is often THE deciding factor in whether a client’s family can stay together or whether an immigrant can escape life-threatening circumstances in their home country.  Lawyers use these reports in court to strongly bolster their cases, increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes

We provide assessments in support of the following types of cases:

  • Hardship waivers

  • Cancellation of removal (adults and children)

  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

  • U Visa and T Visa

  • Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)

  • Asylum/Withholding of Removal/Convention Against Torture

  • Clinical Interview: The therapist gathers personal history, mental health symptoms, trauma, and emotional state through a structured interview.  The interview is conducted in the client’s language and administered by a bilingual therapist or through an interpreter.

  • Psychological Scales: Standardized tests are administered to assess mental health aspects like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and cognitive functioning.

  • Report Writing: The therapist compiles a detailed report, including history, assessment results, diagnosis (if applicable), and conclusions about the individual's mental health and immigration case.

  • Timeframe: The report takes 14 business days to complete.  Expedited turnaround times are available for an additional fee.
